Her Lao

All kinds of older or classic songs, in all cultures, have been covered or re-rendered by all kinds of different, modern singers...
I found these "covers" to be among the best.
I like the word "re-render" better, because that's what it really is: to redo a well known, beloved classic, sometimes sticking to every detail as was done in the past and doing it perfectly and other times varying or changing the singing pitch/voice, re-arranging the notes (faster or slower or focusing on a certain aspects the new artists think needed to be done, to update the song).
My favorite singer who's done these re-rendering is ອຸດອນ ວົງສີ (Oudone Vongsy).
I think he has on average the best voice, the most subtlety, and the most interesting musical re-arrangments... that are best for the re-rendering of a lot of these 1950s - 1980s Lao songs...
One of my truly favorites, as someone who grew up loving late 1870s to late 1980s rock & as someone who plays the guitar..... is this first one ---- ເພັດໃນຕົມ ---- a slow to medium paced, exquisite, traditional Lao class song that has been transformed, literally, into an even more exquisite modern classic, going back and forth between fast heavy metal rock style & breath-taking, slow, ballad-like introspection....
The mixed pacing, the re-arranging of the music/notes, the singing, the voice, the guitar... everything came together just exactly as it should be... I've heard over a dozen re-rendering by a dozen different singers, on this classic song, and this one, to me, is head and shoulder above all others.
Second in my liking, with this same song, would be the older cover by Sombath Keokhamdy... some 15 or 20 years ago....
ເພັດໃນຕົມ
Two true Classics, by two exceptional singers from decades ago...
