good grief. only in thailand where a deposed prime minister gets to be impeached again.

the old constitution was suspended already so what's the point of running this show to impeach the former prime minister yingluck again?

by now if she doesn't get it that she can't run for the high office again then she is very stupid like a buffalo as she has been labeled by the yellow shirts.

please don't tell me that i don't understand the new thai constitution because i really don't understand thai politics.

The junta don't seem to belong to and they do not work on behalf of any political party...

They could do whatever they desire for now without being afraid of not being elected in the next election. Elections do not seem to be anything they are worried about.

So far, they seem to be on the right track to fight against corruptions and wrongdoings in police forces and other civil services.

Just wait and see how the new Constitution would look like.

The rice scheme case is not over. They are going to bring anyone involved to face justice.

HOW IN THE WORLD THE SMART/DUMB JUNTA IS DOING. PEOPLE WILL COMMIT THIS ACT IN HISTORY AS THE DUMB OF DUMBER GOVERNMENT. GO AHEAD GET THE OLD PM TO BE PUNISH BY THE NEW CONSTITUTION. THE WORLD WILL LAUGH UNTIL THEY NEED AN OXYGEN TANK. YEP THAILAND DID IT WHILE THE HONORABLE RAMA 9 IS IN OFFICE. WATCH OUT THE KING MIGHT KNOCK THE JUNTA DOWN FROM THAT PM SEAT AND FORCE AN ELECTION QUICKLY TO RETURN GOVERNMENT TO THE PEOPLE. THE KING USED TO SUMMON HIGH OFFICIAL TO BE ON HIS KNEES BEGGING FOR PARDON. MESSING THE CONSTITUTION BACKWARD IS A TARNISH UNDER THE COMMAND OF A HIGHLY HONORABLE KING RAMA 9. ok, now it's a different ball game. impeachment is one thing and indictment is another thing.

the intention of the new regime is to really make sure that no shinawatra clan can ever go into politics again for a long long time.

I don't think the redshirts dare to protest during the emergency rule. Besides, the protest would give the military regime more excuse to rule! All talks about the protests do not seem to materialize for now! The military junta are not belong to any party and they don't care about the vote and election result. So far they have been doing good job getting rid of some police mafia groups and go after the other wrong doers, politicians and civil servants, especially involving corruption cases.

a good read from the BBC about the current thai political atmosphere http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-30974131
"The red-shirts also know that the military is drafting a new constitution which will at the very least shift the electoral arithmetic in favour of other parties, and enhance the powers of staunchly anti-Shinawatra bodies like the Constitutional Court and Anti-Corruption Commission. Under these conditions, a repeat of their last four election victories will be much harder, if not impossible."

++++++++++++++++++++

That is the problem in Thai politics, isn't it?

Every time some group rises to the top, they scratch the previous constitution, promulgated their own version that is, of course, favorable to them and close associate groups...

The military, AS WELL AS THE ESTEEMEDD ROYAL FAMILY, of course, say they are beyond politics! And that they merely want everyone to be nice to each other, and when they promulgate a new constitution, they merely write in it the niceties, gentility, and harmonious words and clauses citizens of all walks of life must adhere to, in order to have a nice, civil society where if you're really made, you merely mere BULLETS to your political opponents and not actually go over and shoot them dead on the spot!

This is the perpetual Asian mentality, isn't it?

ONE GROUP, or another ---- whichever group or whoever as individuals, who gets to the top ---- ALWAYS MAKE DECREES THEY SAY is the most just, most moral, most ethical, most intelligent... and if OTHERS WOULD SIMPLY ACQUIESCE TO IT, too, then everyone would be jumping with joy!, NOT BEING INTELLIGENT ENOUGH, or honest and educated enough, to realize that IN REALITY, people (individuals and groups) don't work like that... and that it is only through TRIAL AND ERROR, with DIFFERENT INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS competing without guns, without the military imposing from above... that you WOULD EVENTUALLY FIND some balance in your approach to GOVERNANCE... and that NO ONE has some ultimate right, OR INSIGHT, into governance.

Asians, from the earliest of times, to the present STILL THINK someone, some group, has THE RIGHT IDEA!, and if only OTHERS would just bow down and agree with them, then there's peace, law and order, prosperity, respect, harmony, ad nauseam...

Tragic and sad and hilarious at the same time... how a group of people NEVER seem to be able to "get with it," "get with the time," in terms of up-to-date paradigm shift...

(Reuters) - Thailand warned the United States against meddling in its political affairs on Wednesday, saying many Thais had been hurt by the remarks of a visiting U.S. envoy who took a swipe at the ruling military junta's undemocratic practices.

Thailand, a long-time U.S. ally, remains under martial law following a coup last May, and the junta says a general election is at least a year away.

Relations between the two sides have deteriorated sharply since the coup, with Washington freezing aid and cancelling some security engagements.

In an address to students at a Bangkok university on Monday, Assistant U.S. Secretary of State for East Asia and the Pacific Daniel Russel called for more inclusive politics and the end of martial law.

The comments from Russel, the highest-level U.S. official to visit Thailand since the coup, came a few days after ousted Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra was banned from politics for five years and indicted on criminal charges over a state rice buying scheme.

"We don't agree with the Assistant Secretary of State talking about politics at Chulalongkorn University. It hurt many Thais," Thai deputy foreign minister Don Pramudwinai told reporters after summoning the U.S. charge d'affaires, Patrick Murphy.

"If we comply with (Washington's wish) and lift martial law and it leads to problems, how will those people who are asking for the lifting of martial law take responsibility?" he said. "In reality, Thais don't even know there is martial law."

Russel had said while Washington did not take sides in Thai politics, it was for the Thai people to determine the legitimacy of the political and legal processes. He expressed concerns that the political process did not seem to represent all elements in Thai society.

COUP LEADER SAYS SADDENED

"It saddens me that the United States does not understand the reason why I had to intervene and does not understand the way we work, even though we have been close allies for years," Prayuth told reporters.

In the diplomatic tit-for-tat, the Thai deputy foreign minister said Washington did not understand the complexities of the local political scene.

"The U.S. does not understand Thai politics," Don said. "Yingluck's impeachment was not a political matter."

If Yingluck's impeachment was not a political matter, then about what?
It's about the CORRECT IDEOLOGY.

Yingluck and her devious billionaire brother didn't, apparently, have it!

(And, as you can see, devious but rich billionaires could EASILY bribe millions of ciitizens to follow them, to vote for them! Putting such leaders in prison and banning their supporters from demonstrating... that solves the problem!)

Some people just don't seem to naturally have or exhibit he various CORRECT IDEOLOGIES required to function or live peacefully in the various peace loving, locally democratic countries like most Asian countries...

(Hell, even SOME Western countries and citizens are getting OUT OF CONTROL with their stupid Freedom of Speech nonsense, which is as dangerous as using guns to mow people down in the streets and work places! And there must be LAWS to STOP such stupid people from endangering such Western societies which are slipping away & into barbarity and un-governed nations.)

Hun Sen & Sons do, in Cambodia... that's why the family rules so benevolently all these decades.

The military and royal family of Thailand do... so every few years, the military, with the king's blessing, must do some coup to restore peace, democracy, and law and order...

The Communist Party does... in Laos, North Korea, Cuba, China, and Vietnam... that's why they have ruled so benevolently, to 99%-100% approval all these decades...

Attitude adjustment --- or learning to keep your stupid mouth shut or we'd do it for you --- kind of FREEDOM OF SPEECH Pizone, Communists, Thai military juntas, and Islamic societies and rulers demand of the people...

http://news.yahoo.com/thai-military-ramps-attitude-adjustment-critics-080154904.html

http://news.yahoo.com/egyptian-poet-goes-trial-accused-contempt-islam-164455090.html

But, folks, don't worry... If smart people like Pizone, et al were allowed to write NO INSULT LAWS for Western countries we live in, they'd do much better than the Thai military juntas or those "Islam is a religion of Peace" Muslims in the Middle East!

Pizone and other SMART PEOPLE would use their smartness in such a way, so that Western societies would have NO STUPID IDIOTS insulting people and their HOLY BOOKS and HOLY IDEAS and HOLY PROPHETS left and right, like what's happening currently, but would NEVER approach it like these Thai military juntas or Middle East Islamists or the Communists who control Laos, China, Vietnam, Cuba, and North Korea!

Being so naturally smart, Pizone et al would simply find a way to PASS LAWS that would shut the stupid mouths of people like Her Lao and those at Charlie Hebdo ando the such places... but SUCH LAWS would NEVER TOUCH THE RIGHTS AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH of the OTHER SMART Westerners... smart people who don't have urges to insult holy books, holy ideas, holy prophets, correct leaders and leadership, correct ideologies, kings and queens and royal families, etc.

http://news.yahoo.com/toppled-thai-pm-cant-eat-noodles-without-junta-095444711.html

This is the problem, the GENERAL PROBLEM, with people and societies that operate on so-called CORRECT IDEOLOGIES and LEADERSHIP: they are small, small-minded, personal (wait til I get my hands on you, and you will rue the day you crossed me, etc), vindictive, nepotistic, rigid, narrow, backward, authoritarian, and unfit and unsuited for modern societies and cultures and people...

Only thugs and primitive autocrats would say such a thing to ANOTHER POLITICAL LEADER whom they've just militarily forced out of office... that that person won't be able to eat a bowl of noodles without the CORRECT LEADERSHIP giving the okay.

What kind of a people, or a society, that would allow such small-minded, mean-spirited, vicious, and vulgar individuals to be leaders of millions or tens of millions of citizens?

Answer, NOT A VERY EDUCATED OR a VERY FREE PEOPLE, but a very oppressed, repressed, and crude society and people that would allow themselves to be treated like FEUDAL SLAVES and SERVANTS like that...

Bet our nickel on this: within the next few years, these mighty military junta leaders will, in their own turn, be brought down, made to kneel in front of OTHER THAI LEADERS who have, at such a future point, taken reign of the government.

And the vicious cycle will never stop...

This is what happens, when you don't develop true INSTITUIONS and, instead, run your governance on personality cults, correct ideologies and leadership, and other such authoritarian and primitive governance structure, where every group that has successful fought its way to the top randomly scratch the PREVIOUS constitution and promulgate their own deemed to be THE CORRECT or BEST and MOST DEMOCRATIC one... knowing all the while, it, too, will not survive the next group's inspection, and so on, and so on, and so on...

IS this OLD LADY PM RELEASED YET? DETAIN FOREVER? FUN STUFF IN THAILAND. SHE NOT MY WIFE NOR A RELATIVE SO LET THE GOD WHO CAN HELP DO HIS JOB. WE JOE NONAME CAN NOT DO A THING TO THE JUNTA. JUST HOPE THE GOD GOT MERCY FOR THE JUNTA. IF I WERE THE GOD I'LL PUT 100PSI ON THE JUNTA'S NUT UNLESS THE OLD LADY PM IS RELEASED AS A NORMAL CITIZEN. IF 100PSI DOES NOT DO IT JACK THAT TO 1,000 PSI WOULD DO IT IN 10 SECONDS OR LESS.

good grief. only in thailand where a deposed prime minister gets to be impeached again.
the old constitution was suspended already so what's the point of running this show to impeach the former prime minister yingluck again?
by now if she doesn't get it that she can't run for the high office again then she is very stupid like a buffalo as she has been labeled by the yellow shirts.
please don't tell me that i don't understand the new thai constitution because i really don't understand thai politics.
