last time i was in Chiangmai area in 2008 a lady ໄຕໃຫຍ່ told me that she´s a ໄຕໃຫຍ່ which simply mean Thai-Lao in Burma. how truth to that i have no idea but the Thai in that area confirmed her statement to me after i asked a few native in that area.

Tai Dam are properly the real Tai as an ethnicity. But for Lao the word Tai means people. Why is it so hard for some Lao people to understand this? If you want to fall into a Siamese trap or being their bait, just use that word Tai in front of word Lao and call yourself Tai Lao. Lao people using this on a daily basis and can not understand the meaning of it, it is just beyond me. The Tai is very recent term based on Chinese record which coincided with Kun Bulom chronicle when he created Muong Then or Tong Na Noi Oi Nou. Some Lao go as far as putting in Wakipedia about Tai Lao. The Siamese scholar named Orathai stated the Ai Lao kingdom were inhated by Tai, but the words Ai Lao are in Lao language, how dare a Siamese scholars claim as such. She also stated that the reason Lao people are called Lao is because we got that named from Ai Lao kingdom. What a pathetic scholar, you see how bad the Siamese want be in front? Are we Lao just going let them claim that too? Remember this, the Siamese wanna come out in front in every possible way. Have any read a Thai held study to find out about the Tai origin, do a google search on Nanping Lao and you will see that paper. What did they find out, what did the Chinese scholars presented them? Obviously, they did presented to them but about Lao, the Old Lao people. So, they were no mentioned of any Old Tai people. Remember this, why the Siamese burnt the hell out of Wiang Jun, even worst why did they hauled away the important ducoments of Lao people? They did that for reason, and if they can keep us under their control we will be their baits. It ironic that some Lao still fool by their methods, one thing about Siamese they can not stand the truth about history.

Last time I went to des moines, iowa, was about 10 years ago. My
friends there told me a very good story about how 'unity' can really
benefit the ones who united. the story goes like this,

The thai-dam community in iowa, especially in des moines, is quite big
and the biggest in America. The community leaders need a big land to
make their community center for celebrating their cultural events and
activities, a kind of public park for their newer generation to use
and enjoy.

They didn’t go to the bank, but collect money from volunteer families,
ask them to put money in according to their affordable. Due to their
united spirit, they can get enough money to buy a huge land out of the
city center, the empty forest. They take care of it and enjoy using it
for 10 years or so, then the development come. The price of land at
that area went up high. They sell half of the land with the price more
than what they paid for it. The people who put money in get their
money back. Everybody is happy. the land that you see in youtube, even
half of the original land is still huge more than enough for their
children and their community to use and enjoy, and that's fro 'free'
so to speak!

Talking about Tai Dam, I also have a good childhood friend
who is Tai Dam. We went to elementary school together back in Laos at
ecole Tafforin behind ecole droit back in the 70’s (we completed six
grade there together). He’s the only one among our friends who spoke
and understood English back when we were in elementary school in Laos.
He also held a job at Senglao Movie Theater. I remembered from times
to times when there were a good movie we poor kids would go to Senglao
and waited until the last minutes before the door closed then our
friend, Xeuang, who worked at Senglao would come and got us in to the
movie theater without paying for it. It was fun back then for the poor
kids like us who could not afford to buy tickets, but got in for free
to see the movie.

As I said, Xeuang, was the only one in our class who spoke
and understood English that was the reason later on he got a job
working for Australia Embassy. I wonder where he is now; since KC is
Tai Dam (I presume), I wonder if KC knows Xeuang or not? Back then,
he lived with his family at Ban Na Hai Deow not far from Lycee
Vientiane. In fact, I don’t even know if he leaves Laos or still in
Laos, but if he is still in Laos—I guess that he may still work at
Australia Embassy. Do you know him KC? If you know or see him, please
let him know that his old childhood friend asking for him or you can
give him my e-mail.
